Black Elephants – Part II

The Elephants received their primer coat tonight.  As explained in the Panthers post the Primer paint is Color Kote. Metal primer. It went on very shiney and appeared thick but it shrinks and dries very fast and with a wonderfull dull surface finish.

I havn’t much comment to add further on the tanks themselves so I will let teh pictures entertain…

  1. The Elephants look great.
I haven’t used a metal primer in a while but I think it probably is a sound option on FOW figures which seem to chip paint quite easily on their little sharp edges. All of that Color Kote paint goes on thick and shiney. Many a time I have thought I’ve overdone it but it dries beautifully.

  2. I was reading the latest Wargames Illustrated magazine last night and it has the best article on a WWII battel for FOW ever. It is about the anzio -Italay campaighn and it telss you how many of what tanks were used where.

There was over 70 Elefants used .. and in Kampfgruppes mixed with Panthers and tiger ie’s.
The army lists and brief are official when published, much like White Dwarf. So ther is some very nive FJ and Herman Goering Panzer divsion in there. You could take Stug, Tiger iE, Panther and Brumbar in one army list!.

You need to buy two Brumbar… range of 40cm though.. but at 13 and FP +1 front armour 10?

  3. Hey my sister is visiting Qt this weekend would you like to read all the older Wargames Illustrated mags on loan of course. My sister can return to Dunedin and you could pick them up from her work?

  4. her work is my work, we all work for the university now. nah it’s alright, I have plenty to do until I see you next anyway. …whenever that is
