Emperor’s Children Chaos Space Marines

My son is collecting Emperor’s Children. My contribution is painting them in between my Ultramarines. Essentially I paint model about or sometimes in squads of five. He has a fairly large army so it’s taking some time even with me lowering the standard of my work to try to speed it up.

As a new years resolution I’ve set myself the target of 100 modes in 1 year. I generally can’t abide new years resolutions but this was more to keep me honest and commit to the work. Honestly I really need to paint more than 100 models at the rate at which my son is collecting them, much less my own. @moahunter_nz

Ork Nobz

The Ork Nobz from the assault on black reach that I’ve been painting for my son.  The photos don’t really do them justice, probably should retake them but can’t really be bothered.  Day was very overcast and I didn’t use any other light source which meant a lot of editing to make them half pie decent.  Also the bases aren’t really finished only have green grass for flock and that doesn’t quite seem appropriate will work on that later.

Ork Defkopta

Here is the first of three defkoptas (the other two having not been painted yet).  Kinda fiddly thing as it comes in two halves which you stick together.  Unfortunately there are a few patches where it doesn’t really fit together all that well so you pretty much have a seam running the length of the model which you have to putty up.  Not to much of a problem but there is a lot of detail also which can be a bit of a pain to not obscure with the putty.  Also on this model I glued the Ork in place  (no mean feat in itself as it’s very fiddly to put his arms (a single peace holding the handlebars and instruments) and head on in the small space.  You feel very fat fingered.  Of course this means it’s even more difficult to paint.  I’ve learnt my lesson for the other two.  Otherwise it was pretty easy to paint.  Only problem is trying to work out what bits to paint silver, what brass, what to leave black etc.
