Operation “Restore” – Patton would approve

Following such adventures as; Project Panther, Project Elephants,Project Panzer grenadiers and Project US infantry the same creator brings you:

“Operation Restore”

Yes Patton would approve….

Several days ago a clandestine effort was launched to recover some lost FOW US infantry forces from a neglected home buy way of on line auction.

The results were astounding! The following units were both discovered and reconnoitred.

5 Sherman tanks
3 M10 GMC’s
105mm Field Battery plus observers and trucks
6 Jeeps
1 platoon of infantry and commands
3 medium trucks
and 2x 2-ton trucks

These boys were ransomed back for a meagre amount short of $100.
Battered bruised and suffering some serious wear and tear there is nothing a new round of boot camp won’t fix.

We are certain Uncle Sam will put these warriors back were there wanted the most… pushing the enemy all the way back to Berlin.

Of interesting note is we have some late war new models of infantry and some good classical Evan sculpt U.S infantry. The latter defiantly my pick of the bunch

Almost all of these boys are destined for a long programme of soothing their weary pains away in the “Green Stuff” bath. Followed by a dry and a good brush. Later a nice new nuggeting of those boots-n-all in a KolorKote undercoat black.

The guns and some vehicles need a full chassis re-straightening and the shields need a panel beating followed by a gun alignment.

Several vehicles need those powerful .50 cal HMG’s positioned for full affect.

The gun battery staff team needs a full replacement table leg set and some personnel seem to be AWOL… but we have some replacements.

All up an exciting venture in making do with some misfits and making them effective… Kelly and Hannibal would be appropriate staff sergeants and colonel names in this lot.

Here is the details… at this point they were ordered to put on their despondent sad puppy dog eyed stares whilst picking some bits of rice out of a canteen… but these guys couldn’t because they had run out of dirty pink T shirts and had at least been keeping clean shaved or wrapped in tin foil. But her is some close ups of the terrible wounds to treat, and the original recognisance photos which are quiet blurry.

M10 GMC's

jeeps X 6

105mm howitzers

Those are the recon photos

here are the pictures of teh torture those poor little bastards went throgh..

This poor set of guns were confused as being part of the Thunderbirds franchise.. they port dashinf silver barreld and English Machinary green paint with black trim, just like those factory machines fromthe turn of the 18 Century have.
The shields are munted and the barrels pont in every dangerous direction you can think of..including straight up.. which isn’t good for a howitzer .. eh?
m10
This is an M10… without a barrel and without a crew… apparently the a time hole opened up and a 1970’s peace corp troop appeared and totaly disarmed the thing before having to re enter the star gate…

staggers
This poor truck has got the staggers… al we need is shepard with belley needle… and it will up in no time. Although rummers are teh A team will use a work shop and turn it into a tricycle that an orc would be proud to hand to suicide grot.

ompaloompa
These guys are typical of most of the patoon.. except the ones waiting for UFO’s wearing thier metal foil suits.
These are the Ompa Loomps suits… your best machinary green overals to match the guns and nice poo brown metal guns.. or are they terracotta… like the famouse chinese buried army… All we really know.. is that those battle garments are going to be destroyed right after fumigation!

syncloompas

Asin all armies ther is always an elite. These Elite Ompaloompas would normally be US tank crew bailing out of thier tank… but not these guys.. ooooh noo! these chaps have the most bright and fashionable Ompa oompa suits and they even walk a cool jazz dance in synchronisation that would put a Chinese mass political ralley to shame.
You don’t use these guys too often and they are calssified as a RARE option in your army… especially as because thier little ompa loompa vehichles tend to burn so easily… this why these suits have no rhine stones and and crew are slected for good eyesight because any magnified sun beam with spark these boys up!

Great Eagles

These are my two Great Eagles.  Purchased way back when the 4th edition woodelf army book came out these used to be a staple in every army.  However when they moved to being a rare choice and had to compete with treeman and waywatchers for the slots they stopped being an automatic choice.  When I painted them I was very happy with them though they look a bit old and tired now.  This was not helped by lending them briefly to a local gaming store who wanted great eagles for something and new I had some.  They came back with their wings and stands broken.  I repaired them but it’s never quite the same again.  If you look close to the swooping one you can see the fracture line around the wing has started to open up again.  It’s also not really helped by being on these tiny bases which are too small to support such a large model.  They frequently topple over further damaging the models.  I’m going to buy some of the new wide bases, or place the stems of the stands (which I have plenty of) into 40mm monster bases like the warhawks that I have.  Then at some point I’ll probably strip them pull them apart, reassemble and paint them again.  Whether or not they’re effective in 8th edition I don’t know but certainly finding room for them in the army when they only cost 50pts is not much of a problem. But hey … do I look like I care?

Griffon

This is my Griffon, not technically a Games Workshop model, if memory serves it was produced by Harlequin or some such.  I have a few models of theirs, some woodelves and an orc.  Anyway this was bought I think before I got the 4th ed Wood Elves army book so back when you could field generic monsters.  Anyway when the rules changed and I couldn’t anymore I still painted it up and not long afterwards I was half heartedly collecting High Elves who could and still can field griffons.  Regardless of whether or not I can field it or would want to field a non-gw minature even if I could I still think it’s a nice model (looks like what I understand a griffon to look like, ie a lions body with eagles head and wings, not like the new gw one which looks like an eagle with a lion sticking out of it’s butt.  Which to be fair I haven’t seen other than a couple of photos but it’s not how I would have modeled it, regardless of how nice a job or not it is.)  Anyway very boring paint job, vomit brown I think with brown wash and then bleached bone dry brushed but I think it’s quite effective.  Need to remount it at some point onto a nice base.
