Fallschirmjaeger Splinter Pattern Jump Smocks

Ok so here is some pictures of my latest variation on painting splinter pattern jump smocks.  They’re not great photos and the slightly glossy varnish on the older fig’s really doesn’t make them look good, but hopefully you can see the difference in wht I think works out to be a far better final product.

  1. I think the old method looks more like Wermacht water pattern than the FJ pattern. I know splinter looks very square and patches like.

The new pattern looks a bit splotchie.. but at this scale I realise how hard it is to do this.

Looks fine. I think I like your new method as it has more defined edges to the colour.

Why did youput three figures of the same pose together? Are these AT rifles?

More static grass please… fill up the base.

  2. Yeah the models shown do seem to make it look ‘splotchie’ but I think if you saw it closer you’d find that it wasn’t quite as bad. It’s difficult really to show in a photo especially when you’re trying to cram a lot on.

They are three AT rifles, they’re all supposed to be based together. I know it doesn’t look great but what can you do. There were the first FJ I painted back when we still lived in the old house.

What do you mean more static grass, in one of your previous comments you were the “less is more” man, now you’re saying “more is more”. Make up you mind, …and then I’ll promptly ignore you. I like patchy grass on a base. I just wish I had some straw coloured stuff. Have been looking but not finding.
